Third One-day International

†INDIA v AUSTRALIA 1986-87

Toss: India.

Kapil Dev put Australia in so that he could apply the strategy of rationing the overs. India took the initiative after Boon, Marsh and Jones had played valuable innings, but Ritchie wrested it back in the later stages, blasting a fine 75 off 53 balls with seven fours and three sixes. He took 22 runs off one over from Madan Lal. In helpful conditions, the Australian seam bowlers had India in trouble before a thunderstorm washed out the match.

Man of the Match: No award.
