Sharjah Champions' Trophy

†INDIA v WEST INDIES 1989-90

At Sharjah, October 16. India won by 37 runs. Toss: West Indies. Kapil Dev's all-round skills brought India an unexpected victory. Coming in at 123 for five in the 31st over, and surviving a chance to mid-wicket when 14, he scored 41 off 50 balls, and later he took two for 19 in 7.4 overs as the West Indians generally failed to apply themselves with the bat. Marshall (46 balls) and the unbeaten Dujon pulled the innings round from 78 for five at the halfway stage, but Vengsarkar's throw from mid-on to run out Richards proved decisive. The West Indies captain had come in at No. 9 after injuring a finger on his right hand while fielding.

Man of the Match: Kapil Dev.
