At Faisalabad, February 27. New Zealand won by 109 runs. Toss: United Arab Emirates.
Fog held up the start and trimmed each innings by three overs - the fact that both sides were dressed in grey could not have improved their visibility. But the teams were clearly differentiated once the game got under way, with the Emirates hopelessly outclassed again. They did make two early breakthroughs, as Astle's poor run continued, but Spearman, with ten fours in a run-a-ball 78, and Twose added 120 in 21 overs. Twose batted on to fall eight short of a maiden international hundred and New Zealand's total challenged the Emirates to score nearly six an over. With the middle order collapsing again, the innings was given respectability only by Samarasekera, who came in at 92 for seven and hit 47 from 59 balls.
Man of the Match: R. G. Twose.
