India v Sri Lanka 1999-2000

At Dhaka, June 1 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by 71 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka.

Jayasuriya's eighth century in one-day internationals was a commanding innings that contained 11 fours in 116 balls. With Atapattu, he put on a risk-free 104 for the second wicket. A mid-innings wobble saw Sri Lanka lose four batsmen - including Jayasuriya, run out after a mix-up with Kaluwitharana - for 26 in 36 balls. Kaluwitharana then made amends in a 55-run seventh-wicket stand with Vaas, who hit two sixes in one Agarkar over. A brisk 93 from Tendulkar made headway against a stiff target, but no one other than Dravid offered much support. The match effectively ended with Tendulkar's dismissal, caught on the boundary behind square leg, the first of three wickets which went down at 174 in eight balls.

Man of the Match: S. T. Jayasuriya.
