3rd ODI, Fatullah

Bangladesh v New Zealand, 2013-14

At Fatullah, November 3, 2013. Third one-day international: Bangladesh won by four wickets.

International cricket returned to a redeveloped Fatullah after seven years: such was the demand that 30 people were injured in clashes with police after failing to secure tickets. New Zealand, who had trained over at Mirpur, possibly misjudged a strong total, but they prospered with the bat all the same. Brendon McCullum had flown home with a sore back, and Luke Ronchi flown in to become their third wicketkeeper of the series (Tom Latham had taken the gloves in the second ODI), leaving Taylor as the only batsman with more than 50 caps. Dropped on 12 by Rubel Hossain off his own bowling, Taylor went on to his eighth century in the format. A partnership of 130 in 23 overs with Chris Munro, who reverse-pulled Abdur Razzak for six, preceded an onslaught of 73 runs in the last five, with Taylor hitting three consecutive sixes off Sohag Gazi. Just once before, at Bulawayo in 2009, had Bangladesh successfully chased more than 300, and the architect of that one, Tamim Iqbal, was out ill. But Ziaur Rahman pinched a quick 22 in his stead. And though Shamsur Rahman edged behind for 96 in his second ODI, Nasir Hossain played the role of finisher to perfection - earning a hug from Mushfiqur Rahim's delirious father as he ran on to the field.
MoM: Shamsur Rahman. MoS: Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh).
