Indians v Middlesex

At Lord's, August 22. Indians won by 95 runs. Indians 230 (44.2 overs) (V. Kohli 71, A. T. Rayudu 72; O. P. Rayner 4-32); ‡Middlesex 135 (39.5 overs) (K. V. Sharma 3-14). Middlesex chose from 13 players, and the Indians 17. Ravi Shastri, appointed three days earlier as India's emergency team director, watched with interest from the dressing-room. In his 13th innings of the tour - and his first in coloured clothing - Virat Kohli finally scored a half-century, and looked more secure outside off stump than in the Tests. He and Ambati Rayudu put on 104 for the fourth wicket. Kohli captained the side too, although M. S. Dhoni did field following a gym session.
