Charlie Allison

Charlie Allison's first brush with fame came at the age of just 6 when a video of him batting in the nets went viral, with more than 250,000 views on YouTube. Little more than a decade later and he was translating that ability into first-team runs, scoring four centuries across formats during the 2025 summer to confirm himself as the latest star to come through the Essex system.

The younger brother of fellow Essex academy graduate Ben Allison, Charlie is a batter with the full range of strokes. He debuted aged 18, in the One-Day Cup, scoring 70 off 65 balls in his third innings, and gained further white-ball opportunities the following summer. At the start of the 2025 season, with Dean Elgar absent, he made his first-class debut opening the batting against Surrey; six weeks later, having moved into the middle-order, he scored a maiden hundred, 140 off 235 balls, at The Oval. He added two more in his next three Championship outings, as well as his first List A century in a summer of rich promise.
