Max Holden, a former England Under-19 captain, came through the Middlesex pathway to make his debut aged 19 in 2017, and will remain with the club until at least the end of the 2025 season after penning a three-year extension, having hinted at a coming-of-age at 24, with 1295 runs across formats that season, including 749 in the County Championship.

Described by Middlesex's former MD of cricket Angus Fraser as "one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country," Holden delivered a maiden Championship hundred against Derbyshire in 2018, and though he had yet to add to that tally by the end of 2022, he did also make a List A hundred against Kent in 2019.

A graduate of the Middlesex Youth Academy, Holden is a slightly-built, left-handed batsman with a strong work ethic. Cambridgeshire born and raised, he began a four-year contract with Middlesex in 2016 joined the staff full time once his A levels were completed. He was selected for England at U-17 and U-19 level.
