Thaiyar is an accountant. A punishing right hand middle order batsman and a right arm off spinner. Formerly from Sri Lanka, he has represented Sri Lanka Combined Schools and played Division One cricket in Sri Lanka for 8 years. Thaiyar has represented Singapore since 1990 and was appointed captain in 1994. This is his second ICC tournament. He is the captain of Ceylon Sports Club, winners of the Singapore Division 1 league and knockout tournaments in 1996.
