The company ground of Courtaulds, in its heyday the venue was one of the best appointed outgrounds on the circuit, with the pavilion, built at a cost of £15,000 in 1935, at the centre. During the war a number of high-profile charity matches were staged and this persuaded Warwickshire to allocate a Championship match immediately after the Second World War, and they continued to play here until 1983.
