New Zealand v West Indies, 3rd Test, Hamilton, 3rd day
Seamers set NZ on course for victory
With New Zealand resuming on 156 for 3, and still trailing by 211 runs, it was imperative that Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum waged on to give New Zealand a strong first-innings total. This, however, wouldn't come too fruition as Sunil Narine, who tormented McCullum near the end of the second day, finally had his man when Darren Sammy took a sharp, high catch at slip to remove him for 12•Associated Press
Taylor continued his prolific form this series as he brought up a third straight century, appropriately enough, in the 100th over of the innings•Associated Press
Taylor fell on 131 thereafter, bringing his series tally to 493, even as New Zealand looked to reduce the deficit further•Getty Images
Marlon Samuels and Shivnarine Chanderpaul were tasked with keeping West Indies afloat, but Samuels vigil wouldn't last too long as he was picked up by Corey Anderson for just 8•Associated Press
Sitting on 98 Test wickets, Time Southee prised out the remaining three wickets in the space of an over to dismiss West Indies for a paltry 103. The New Zealand openers came out to bat for two overs, and got to 6 for 0. The hosts need another 116 for victory•Getty Images
This brought No. 6, Corey Anderson, to the crease, and together with Taylor he frustrated the West Indies bowlers. The pair put on a 50-run stand, with Anderson contributing the majority of the runs. His innings came to an end when he was caught by Narsingh Deonarine off the bowling of Veerasammy Permaul for 39•Getty Images
BJ Watling proved an able partner as New Zealand reached lunch on 249 for 5•Getty Images
Narine continued to wreak havoc, claiming Test best-figures of 6 for 91, as New Zealand were dismissed for 349, still trailing the West Indies by 18 runs•Getty Images
Neil Wagner then came on and took, arguably, the most important wicket of all as he had Chanderpaul caught at second slip by Kane Williamson, who took a blinder of a catch low to his right•Getty Images
Soon after lunch, however, West Indies struck again, with Watling being the unlucky party•Getty Images
But then Trent Boult bowled an inspired spell straight after tea to reduce West Indies to 13 for 3•Getty Images
There was still Denesh Ramdin to contend with, however, and Boult had the answer, getting him trapped leg before to leave West Indies wobbling at 91 for 7•Getty Images
