Having first allowed the horse to bolt, Board of Cricket Control
for India secretary Jagmohan Dalmiya on Friday locked the
stable door when he publicly revealed the tenor of the report
submitted by the three-member enquiry committee that probed the
Navjot Sidhu controversy.
"The committee has concluded that Sidhu, being a very sensitive and emotional person, had felt that the observations made by
captain Mohammad Azharuddin in the team meetings were directed at him, and that he was being singled out for criticism."
Echoing the Rediff On The NeT report of Thursday, Dalmiya
said that the committee reported, after individual meetings with
the various dramatis personae, that there was no evidence to
conclude that Sidhu had been singled out for personal humiliation by the Indian skipper.
The BCCI will now have to decide whether or not any disciplinary action against Sidhu for his walkout midway through the
England tour is called for, Dalmiya told the media in Calcutta on
Friday afternoon.
