Four senior international cricket umpires from Sri Lanka will
leave on Tuesday for Malaysia to officiate in the Pepsi Asian
Cricket Council trophy tournament from September 6 -16.
Udaya Wickremasinghe and T.M. Samarasinghe, who were members of
the Singer World Series panel, Ignatius Anandappa and D.N.
Pathirana will be joined by three umpires from India and three
from Pakistan in the 23 matches that will be played amongst 12
countries.
The winning team will qualify to play in the Asia Cup tournament
to be held in Sri Lanka next year.
The teams participating in the Malaysian tournament are: Bangladesh, Hongkong, Fiji, Japan, Nepal, Brunei, UAE, Papua New
Guinea, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Maldives.
