Seven teams moved to the next round of the 16th national schools cricket championship winning their respective matches at different venues, reports UNB.

They are Mastermind, West Dhanmondi Yusuf School, Jatrabari Bidyut Unnyan Board School, Chalet International School, Badda Bidyaniketon School, Bidyaniketon Pre-Cadet School and Nababpur Government High School.

Mastermind defeated Dhanmondi Govt Boys' by seven wickets at the Dhaka Stadium.

Batting first, Dhanmondi Boys scored 118 allout in 30.4 overs with Samir Hossain making 43.

In reply, Mastermind reached 119 losing three wickets in 26.2 overs. Manzurul Hasan contributed 31 runs.

West Dhanmondi beat University Laboratory School by 94 runs at the T&T Ground.

West Dhanmondi made 191 for eight in stipulated 35 overs with Hossain scoring 47 and Ali 35 runs. In reply, Laboratory School were all out for 97 in 21.4 overs.

Jatrabari Bidyut Unnayan Board outplayed Dhaka Government Muslim School by 25 runs at the Dhanmondi Club ground.

Jatrabari made 122 in 27.4 overs with Tito making 26 runs. In reply, Muslim School were allout for 97 in 21.5 overs.

At the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Chalet International School defeated Hammadia High by six wickets.

Hammadia were allout for 116 in 30.2 overs. In reply, Chalet International cruised to 117 for four. Kibria of Chalet made highest 37 runs.

Badda Bidyaniketon School defeated Ideal High School by 79 runs at the Uttara Friends Club ground.

Batting first, Badda scored 146 for nine in 30 overs with Sumon contributing 34 runs. In reply, Ideal were shot out for 67 in 21.1 overs.

Bidyaniketon Pre-Cadet School defeated Ganabhaban Government School by three wickets at the City Club ground.

Ganabhaban were all out for 178 in 32.5 overs with Jasim adding 36 runs. In reply, Bidyaniketon made 179 for the loss of seven wickets in 33.5 overs.

Nababpur Government School beat Gulshan Model School by 144 runs at the Mirpur Outer Stadium.

Batting first, Nababpur piled up 210 in 34 overs with Mahbubur contributed highest 44 runs. In reply, Gulshan managed 66 for eight in 16.1 overs.

Aussie Marsh for local youth pair

Two young cricketers, Mushfiqur Rahman Babu and Sabbir Khan, will take part in a short course at the Commonwealth Bank Academy in Australia.

The six-week long coaching camp, to be conducted in the famous academy run by Australian great Rodney Marsh, will begin in the third week of May, informed a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) last evening. The tour expenses will be shared equally by the BCB and the hosts.

Mushfiq, an all-rounder, played for Agrani Bank last year. Sabbir of Azad Sporting, the tall off-spinner, was the vice-captain of the Plate-winning Bangladesh youth team in South Africa last year.
