Sunnydale School scored a 14-run victory over Rajdhani High
School in one of the seven Dhaka zonal qualifying round matches
of the 16th National School Championship at the Dhaka Stadium
yesterday.
In a Group Five encounter, Sunnydale, in defence of a fighting
total of 112 in 30 overs, bundled the Rajdhani boys out for 98 in
just 20 overs.
Earlier, the Sunnydale total was revolved round some useful
contributions from their top order with Talha hammering highest
28.
In their next match on April 30, Sunnydale will face Wari High
School who trounced Morning Star School by 167 runs in another
match of the day played at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, Wari piled up a mammoth total of 244 in the
stipulated 35 overs with Islam contributing highest 76. Mohsin
was the other leading run-scorer collecting 51.
In reply, Morning Start were shot out for a meagre 77 in 23.2
overs.
Away at the T&T ground in Mahakhali, Banani Model School recorded
a 69-run win over Mitali Bidyapith. Batting first, Banani managed
150 for seven in the regulation 35 overs with Shafiqul scoring
highest 35. In reply, Mitali were bundled out for 81 in 31 overs.
On April 30, Banani will take on Ahmed Bawani Academy who handed
Sahajuddin Sarkar Adarsha School an eight-wicket defeat at the
Dhanmondi Club ground.
Chasing a paltry Sahajuddin total of 77 in 35 overs, Ahmed Bawani
reached 78 for two in 15.1 overs.
In another encounter of Group Five, Natun Kuri High School
outplayed Bangladesh International School (BIT) by 58 runs at the
Uttara Friends Club ground. Batting first, Natun Kuri mustered
189 for nine in 35 overs with Sharif scoring highest 34.
Sumon (30) and Mukul (29) were the other notable run-getters. In
reply, BIT were shot out for 131 in 28.3 overs in the face of
some inspirational bowling from Hafiz who finished with six for
25.
In their next engagement also scheduled on April 30, Natun Kuri
will meet BCSIR School who on the day beat Islamia School by 54
runs at the Mirpur Outer Stadium.
In the day's remaining fixture, T&T School registered a marginal
one-wicket victory over National Bank Public School in a Group
Four affair.
