Jamaica Clubs: Kingston cruise past BT

Kingston Defeated Boys' Town by nine wickets in the tenth round of the Rothmans Surrey Senior Cup cricket competition at Sabina Park yesterday.

Meanwhile, a splendid unbeaten century by former Jamaica opening batsman Colin Fletcher failed to get Melbourne past Kensington's big first innings total at Kensington Park.

AT SABINA PARK: Scores: Boys' Town 91 all out and 125 all out, Kingston 166 for four declared and 51 for one.

Kingston had earlier taken first innings points on Saturday's first day with spinner Matthew Fender capturing six wickets for 26 runs off 15.3 overs and Ryan Cunningham two for 21. Omar Campbell got 35 and Marlon Keating 22 for Boys' Town.

When Kingston batted they raced to 166 for four before declaring. Raymond Ferguson 49, Michael Millwood 37. Nicholas Austin 27 and Valentino Ventura 20 were the leading scorers. Phillip Keating took two fof 57.

Boys' Town batted a second time on Saturday and struggled to 31 for three at the close. Yesterday they added a further 94 runs before losing their last seven wickets. Shane Powell 35 and Carol Perry 21 led the scoring while Dwight Mais took three for 26 and Andrew Richardson two for 43.

Needing only 51 runs to secure victory, Kingston raced to 51 for one with Ferguson scoring 34 not out.

AT KENSINGTON PARK: Kensingston gained first innings points from Melbourne. Scores: Kensington 358 all out, Melbourne 323 all out off 78 overs.

Melbourne started well yesterday and reached 114 for one at lunch as skipper Robert Samuels took on the Kensington bowling attack. They lost wickets, including that of Samuels for 54 and Dwayne Pagon 33 at regular intervals after the break.

Fletcher and Deron Dixon stopped the slide with a 74-run stand for the sixth wicket. After Dixon went leg before for 32 however Fletcher ran out of partners shortly after reaching his hundred.

His unbeaten 109 came in 171 minutes off 127 balls. It included 12 fours and two sixes. He treated off spinner Errol Wilson with disdain hitting him for two sixes and several well-timed fours.

David Bernard Jr. took four for 61 of 16 overs and skipper Laurie Williams three for 52 off 17 overs. Six of Melbourne's batsmen were trapped leg before wicket.

AT UP PARK CAMP: Lucas gained first innings points over Jamaica Defence Force. Scores: Jamaica Defence Force 264 all out and 118 for five, Lucas 295 for eight wickets declared.

In the Soldiers first innings, Wayne Cuff made 76, Mark Gray 44 and Marlon Kennedy 39 as Norval Britton took four for 68 and Christopher Gayle three for 46.

Lucas replied with 295 for eight declared with skipper Delroy Morgan scoring 70 (nine fours), Christopher Gayle 52 (nine fours) and Ryan Wellington 51 (six fours). Skipper Paul Brown two for 36 and Luke Williams two for 40.

Batting a second time the Soldiers struggled to 60 for five before Steve Wallace with 39 not out held off Lucas' victory drive. Alton Daley 29 and Brown 22 were the other run getters. Britton two for 19 and Wayne Gayle two for 18 took the wickets.
