Ben Aitchison, a tall fast bowler who can hold a bat, learned his cricket at Formby and played for Lancashire Under-19s before winning a short-term contract with Derbyshire during the Covid-shortened summer of 2020. The following year he took 34 wickets at 23.29, including 6 for 28 against Durham, although a back injury subsequently stalled his progress.

Away from cricket, Ben's father played rugby union for London Irish during the amateur era and his sister, Holly, has been capped by England.
