Playing Role

"Always be watchful of the batters. That's my main thing." That simple philosophy, allied with a useful arsenal of slower balls and yorkers, has enabled Krishmar Santokie to emerge as a handy T20 bowler, both for West Indies and in a number of T20 leagues around the world.

Though he made his List A debut for Jamaica in 2007, the left-arm medium pacer went on to establish himself as a T20 specialist for various teams. He burst onto the scene in the inaugural Caribbean T20 in 2010, taking a five-wicket haul for Jamaica against Trinidad & Tobago. He picked up 10 wickets in the tournament and maintained an economy rate of 5.55.

A West Indies call-up followed in 2011, for a T20I against England at the Oval. Despite creditable returns of 1 for 17 off three overs, Santokie made only occasional appearances for West Indies, until he was picked up for the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh. He had a good tournament, finishing as West Indies' second highest wicket-taker, with eight wickets, and keeping a tidy economy rate of 6.84. However, he played only two more T20Is that year, before being dropped from the West Indies side once again.

Santokie announced his international retirement after deciding to participate in the Masters Champions League, a tournament for retired cricketers, which took place in early 2016.
