At Dharamsala, March 13, 2016 (floodlit). Bangladesh won by 54 runs (DLS). Bangladesh 180-2 (20 overs) (Tamim Iqbal 103*, Sabbir Rahman 44); ‡Oman 65-9 (12 overs) (Shakib Al Hasan 4-15).MoM: Tamim Iqbal.
Tamim ensured Bangladesh would not slip up in the shoot-out for a place in the tournament proper. His 60-ball century was their first in T20 internationals, and made him the first Bangladeshi to score 1,000 runs in the format; he also topped the lists for Tests and ODIs. He made 233 runs in the three preliminary games, and would finish as the tournament's leading scorer, despite adding only 62 in the next phase. His main support came from Sabbir Rahman, who smacked 44 from 26 balls in a stand of 97. Still, 180 was not a conclusive total: with rain threatening, Oman needed to make 38-0 in the first five overs to ease ahead on DLS. Instead wickets tumbled, and when the rain finally came they were way adrift.
