With an unbeaten 65 Chris Harris led Canterbury to a four-wicket win over Otago in their State Twenty20 match at Dunedin's University Oval.
Harris took 3 for 14 in the Otago innings as they were bowled out for 139, Nathan McCullum top-scoring with 37. Canterbury lost three wickets for 32 in the first five overs before Harris arrived at the crease. He did not receive much support from the middle-order except from No.8 batsman Brent Findlay who made 17 from 19 balls. But Harris's 45-ball 65 with six fours and three sixes was enough to take Canterbury home with seven balls to spare. Bradley Scott and Mathew Harvie got two wickets each for Otago.
Wellington lost only four wickets as they successfully chased Central Districts' 180 in their State Twenty20 match at Wellington's Basin Reserve.
Jamie How's 63, which included 13 fours, was not enough for Central to set Wellington a steep enough target. Chris Nevin, the Wellington opener, was there till the end to wrap up the innings with 87 off 53 balls. Nevin added 123 for the fourth wicket along with Grant Elliott before Elliott was caught by Jamie How off Gregory Hegglun for 57 off 38 balls.
