full on the stumps, mistimes a drive into his own feet for none.
Heat vs Hurricanes, 28th Match at Hobart, BBL, Jan 01 2022 - Match Result
7.20 pm Heat scrap out a 14-run win, their third in this BBL. Hurricanes three-match win streak is snapped. After the first hour, it looked like there was no way the Heat had a chance of winning, but James Bazley with a massive boost at the end of the first innings and Heat wind up claiming full points after Bartlett and Mujeeb dismantle the Hurricanes chase. D'Arcy Short's innings will come under plenty of scrutiny. Had he gotten out earlier with the way that Ellis and Rogers were hitting the ball, Hurricanes just may have won but Short chewed up an incredible amount of dot balls.
Heat bowler Xavier Bartlett after a career-best 4 for 30: "We made it hard for ourselves in the end again, but what a cracking game of cricket. I'm really enjoying my cricket back now and it's good to contribute to a win. [Peirson as captain] has been awesome for us. [Power Surge bowling] has been an interesting one. We look now to try to take wickets and not defend. The best way to defend is to attack."
That's all for this match. Flip over to the commentary feed for the Renegades and Sixers about to get underway in a few minutes. Take care!
full on fourth stump, slams a drive back to Wildermuth and it nails him in the ankle just above the shoe tongue.
wide sprayed down leg. My oh my.....
Victory effectively clinched for the Heat. 16 needed off two balls now....
slower bouncer on middle, pulls this flat to deep midwicket for one.
full on the legs, shuffles across his stumps to scoop over fine leg and misses badly, big lbw shout off the pads, given not out as it goes to fine leg for one. DRS would've been interesting on that one. Definitely hitting the stumps, did it pitch in line with leg stump? Hmm....
my goodness... meatball of a full toss at thigh height on fourth stump, but Rogers spills marinara sauce all over himself in the rush to smash it over midwicket and swings straight over the top of it. Sloppy cricket all around.
wide yorker, well bowled but played even better as Rogers slices it out off the toe wide of short third man to the rope.
Wildermuth to bowl the final over.
Rakesh: "Carlos Braithwaite Moment??" In America, we call it a Steven Taylor.
length ball on sixth stump, slapped to long-on for one. The relay is airmailed over the wk/captain as it eludes Peirson and they scamper a second on the overthrow to put Rogers on strike for the final over needing 22 to win.
whaddya know. Another slower bouncer at 117 kph, this time on middle stump though and Rogers adjusts to pull through square leg for one.
Any guesses for this ball.... Switches around the stumps.
Another slower and wider bouncer at 118 kph. Rogers is through another pull way too early.
slower wide bouncer outside off at 120 kph, Rogers is way way way out in front of a pull. Ball bounces to the keeper.
length ball at 119 kph on middle, Rogers slaughters a pull high over square leg 20 yards up onto the grass bank.
full on seventh stump at 117 kph, Ellis tries to keep his hands back long enough to drag a heave to long-on but can't get any muscle behind this, sends it flat to long-on. Fielder misjudged it initially coming in too far off the rope but readjusts and Bartlett leaps up with a bunny hop to claim this high above his head five yards inside the rope.
good length ball on seventh stump, shuffles across to premeditate a scoop over fine leg but is thrown off by the line and clumsily aborts the shot.
full on middle, charges and jams this to wide long-off for one.
length ball on seventh stump at 115 kph, goes to heave for midwicket and is through too early.
Suddenly 32 off 15 balls seems very manageable for Ellis and Rogers.
short and very wide, too wide to play at. Valuable extra.
slower length ball on middle at 112 kph, smashed flat to deep midwicket and fielded on a bounce before being relayed in for one.
yorker on middle, tries to flick this to midwicket and toe drags it past leg stump through fine leg to the rope.
yorker on leg stump, jams this out to cover for one.
