Bermuda staged a spirited fightback on the second day of their Intercontinental Cup meeting with Netherlands but still face a battle to avoid defeat. After their pasting by Ryan ten Doeschate the Bermuda attack stuck to their task to work their way through the lower order. Steven Outerbridge's maiden first-class half-century then enabled them to make significant inroads in the total.
Netherlands had a solid base overnight but lost early wickets as Dwayne Leverock, Rodney Trott and Kevin Hurdle struck to reduce them to 285 for 6. Billy Stelling, who spent time in county cricket with Leicestershire, boosted the total with a patient 33 before Trott claimed two more scalps to help wrap up the innings. Trott and Leverock, who toiled through 47 overs, ended with three wickets apiece and then it was over to the opening batsmen.
Outerbridge and Kwame Tucker negotiated the new-ball spells from ten Doeschate and Stelling, bringing up a century stand in less than 32 overs. Paul Borren broke the partnership and then ten Doeschate returned to remove Irvine Romaine moments before the close. Outerbridge, though, remained firm after bringing up his fifty off 92 balls.
