and there's the game! Short ball, Pietersen stayed deep in his crease and flayed it away through the covers to end the match in fitting style
Pakistan vs England, 13th Match, Group E at Bridgetown, May 06 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Pakistan have been flattened by a great innings from Pietersen. He was authoritative from the start, hitting the ball very hard, collecting boundaries from bad balls and working the good ones away for singles and twos. Pakistan were a disappointment in the field after scrapping their way to 147, dropping easy chances and missing what should have been a simple run out in the penultimate over. They are not down and out yet, but they will need to search for some inspiration in their remaining games.
Lots of you have questioned Afridi's tactics in this game, particularly his rotation of the bowlers in the middle overs. Indeed, what Pakistan really needed was for their spinners to get some rhythm with a good spell in the middle, as England's did, to keep the runs down as England chased a modest target. It is also unclear what Fawad Alam's role in the side is, as he bats at No. 8 and doesn't bowl.
"You can't afford to miss opportunities," says Afridi, "had we taken the opportunities the match could have turned out differently."
"Let's not get too carried away, but we're delighted with the win and to get some points on the board," says Collingwood. "There are a few areas to improve on, we were a bit sloppy at the end, but I was pleased with how we took the momentum back in the middle of Pakistan's innings."
Kevin Pietersen gets the Man of the Match award. "The ankle's fine," he says. "It's not an easy wicket but our boys bowled really well on it. We need one more victory and hopefully we can get to a semi-final."
On Twenty20 cricket: "The more you play, the better you get. Twenty20 cricket is serious business now."

scores level as Wright goes down to slog sweep, misses, and they run a leg bye as the ball squirts square on the off side
doosra, and Wright can't get it away! Hit gently into the covers. Two from 5 needed now...
Another bouncer, but Pietersen can't get it away and the match goes in to the final over!
bouncer from Aamer! KP wasn't expecting that, but he managed to duck his head out of the way just in time
another full toss, very wide of off and it's driven straight to the cover fielder, with all the fielders in now. Had he left that, it would definitely have been a wide
crunch! Pietersen thumps a full toss past a diving mid off and away to the boundary. All over for Pakistan now...
off the face and down to third man
well, two pieces of fielding sum up Pakistan's performance completely. Pietersen chopped the ball hard to point's right, but the fielder dived superbly to cut it off and hurled the ball in to the keeper with Pietersen way out of his crease. Kamran caught the return cleanly, but then ran past the stumps without taking the bails off! A terrible miss there...
gone! Arm ball from Ajmal, and Morgan didn't pick it! He went back to what he believed to be a short ball, but it came on quickly with the arm to beat his attempted pull and rattle the timber! A sting in the tail? Probably not, with England only needing 8 from 12, but you never know!
quicker through the air, pushed to the off side
and Morgan, having had a look at a few, sweeps powerfully out to deep midwicket for four. Top shot, right out the middle and England need single figures now
same again, hit back to Ajmal who collects cleanly
full and floaty, Morgan turns his wrists on this one but can only send it back to the bowler
tossed up by Ajmal, and Morgan stretches forward to defend watchfully to the off side
slightly shorter and hammered into the off side, but straight to the cover fielder
terrific shot! Low, in-swinging full toss but he sent it back right off the middle of the bat, beating long on for another boundary. Pietersen is in full flow now, middling everything
he pulls the length back now, aiming at off stump and Pietersen is content to just drop the ball into the off side
full again, but just short of yorker length and Pietersen gets underneath it to clip the ball off one leg out to the square leg boundary. In the slot, and put away!
full, yorker-length and snaking in to Pietersen through the air, but he walks across to get the ball away behind square on the leg side
length, angling across the left-handed Morgan, who drives into the covers, beating the diving cover fielder to collect a single and get off the mark
