Matthew Elliott and David Hussey shared a run-a-ball partnership of 126 to steer Victoria to a seven-wicket win and a bonus point against South Australia in the ING Cup match at Adelaide Oval today.
Elliott and Hussey, the Man of the Match, revived Victoria's innings after Ian Harvey and Brendan Joseland departed early. The Victoria captain Jon Moss said the pair's batting was "very clinical, very professional". "It was very important to ensure we struck back like we did after the disappointing loss [to the Redbacks in the recent Pura Cup match]," he said.
Moss wreaked havoc with the ball, grabbing three wickets in 15 balls with his medium-pacers as South Australia slipped to 5 for 96 in the 24th over. Mark Cosgrove's aggressive 73, which included 12 boundaries, underpinned their modest total.
Greg Blewett, the former Test batsman, suffered a bulging disc in his back while batting and did not field in Victoria's innings.
