Akshath Reddy ton gives Hyderabad big lead

A round-up of the Ranji Trophy Group C matches played on January 6, 2015

Hyderabad 487 for 9 (Akshath 174, Ravi Teja 96*, Vihari 70) lead Tripura 184 by 303 runs
Scorecard
A century from the opener Akshath Reddy led a strong batting performance from Hyderabad, who built a 303-run lead going into the penultimate day against Tripura in Agartala. At stumps, Hyderabad were at a commanding 487 for 9. The visitors began the day well-placed at 116 for 1, but were dealt an early blow when Chama Milind fell for 14. However, Akshath and Hanuma Vihari counterattacked with a 171-run partnership for the third wicket. Vihari was dismissed for 70, but Akshath carried on, stroking 25 fours and two sixes, to make his way to 174. Tripura kept chipping away at Hyderabad with wickets at regular intervals, but the captain Dwaraka Ravi Teja's unbeaten 96 powered the team close to the 500-run mark. For Tripura, Manisankar Murasingh and Tushar Saha picked up three wickets each.
Assam 211 for 8 (Roy 81, Karthik 34, Yashpal 2-42) lead Services 113 (Nakul 32, Arup 5-40) by 98 runs
Scorecard
Sibsankar Roy's fifty helped Assam secure a first-innings lead against Services in Guwahati. Services, who began day two precariously placed at 102 for 8, could add only 11 more runs to that score, as they were bundled out inside 40 overs. Arup Das was the pick of Assam's bowlers, collecting 5 for 40, while Krishna Das chipped in with 3 for 21. Assam, in reply, lost two early wickets to stumble to 17 for 2, but Roy and Arun Karthik (34) led a recovery with a 58-run, third-wicket stand. Roy hit six fours and two sixes to score 81 and take his team past Services' total, but he was hard-pressed to find solid support at the other end, as the likes of Saurabh Kumar (2 for 42) and Yashpal Singh (2 for 42) kept delivering blows at regular intervals. Roy eventually fell in the 72nd over, but an unbeaten 32 from Jamaluddin Syed Mohammad dragged Assam to 211 for 8 before stumps were called.
Andhra 179 for 4 (Sriram 71, Pradeep 39*) trail Jharkhand 246 (Munda 63, Stephen 3-52) by 67 runs
Scorecard
Murumulla Sriram's half-century left Andhra well-placed to collect a first-innings lead against Jharkhand in Vizianagaram. Jharkhand began the day at 215 for 9, but the last-wicket pair of Rituraj Singh (24*) and Ashish Kumar (12) frustrated Andhra for almost 13 overs, taking the score up to 246. Andhra, in reply, lost their opener Srikar Bharat in the first over, but Prasanth Kumar (33) and Sriram led a recovery through a 95-run, second-wicket stand. Sriram eventually fell for 71, with 12 fours, but AG Pradeep's unbeaten 39 dragged Andhra to 179 for 4 at stumps.
Himachal Pradesh 287 for 6 (Dogra 115*, Bains 44) lead Kerala 196 by 91 runs
Scorecard
Paras Dogra struck his 15th first-class hundred, as Himachal Pradesh batted the whole day against Kerala to pick up an innings lead in Dharamsala. The hosts were in a commanding 287 for 6 in reply to Kerala's 196 at stumps. Dogra, who had scored an unbeaten 230 against Assam last week, muscled 16 fours and a six on his way to 115 not out. Apart from Dogra's knock, handy contributions from Ankush Bains (44), Bipul Sharma (35*) and Nikhil Gangta (29) ensured that Himachal finished the day 91 runs ahead.
