slower ball deceives him and he lofts it high to mid on, Hopes and Simpson completely confuse each other and both of them forget to take the catch
Queensland vs Victoria, Preliminary Final at Brisbane, Jan 19 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
The Vics have done it, they're through to their fifth consecutive Big Bash final with a convincing win over the Bulls tonight at the Gabba.
Ben Dunk and James Hopes recovered the bulls innings to post a competitive total of 149. But it was the David Hussey show, guiding the Vics to an easy victory with some big hitting despite the Vics at times looking vulnerable.
Not surprisingly Hussey was named man of the match for a great 60 off 39 balls and a very economical 4 overs with the ball.
The Bushrangers wrap up a spot in the Twenty20 Champions League and advance to play the Redbacks this Saturday night at Adelaide Oval. Please do join us then for coverage of the big final.
From me, Andrew Fuss, thankyou for your company tonight and have a good night.
full and bump ball to cover
The Vics prepare to celebrate
low full toss guided backward square on the off side to tie the scores
good yorker, driven through point
back of a length and it's clubbed over mid wicket
A relatively simple 8 to win off 12 balls, is there one more twist in this tale?
width outside off, rocks back and plays a lovely late cut wide of short third man
backs away and lofts it over cover and long off charges in but can't quite take the catch as it lands a metre in front of him
full on leg, steps across and flicks through square leg to bring up his 50
full and driven to long off
mistimes the cut to cover
rocks back and plays with very soft hands to mid wicket
You'd think they'd respectfully play Vettori out...
waist high full toss gets smashed over mid wicket with ease, you can't bowl there to David Hussey
width outside off, mistimes the cut to cover
length on off, swings hard again and top edges it to deep square leg, landing safely and plugging in the outfield
clears his front foot out of the way and smashes it over long on, into the crowd and a young lady takes a great catch in Row G
short pitched slower ball, can't connect on the pull
Another good crowd of 11,806 here at the Gabba
cut to backward point
What a big over for the Vics, that wide turned the over from good to bad pretty quickly and the 6 just added insult to injury
advances and pushes it back just past the bowler, fielded by long on
full outside off and he sweeps to deep square leg, they take a run on the throw as it's a long boundary
advances and smashes it straight as an arrow for another six
