And thats the game, plays across the line and hears the dread clank of ball against stumps
Zim XI vs SAf XI, 3rd Match at Harare, Jun 20 2012 - Ball by Ball Commentary
A convincing win for Zimbabwe, and well deserved too. They outplayed the more fancied South Africans in every department of the game. They batted well, the bowled well and their fielding was of a good standard.
For South Africa it is obvious that a lot of work still has to be done, especially in the bowling deparyment. Parnell once again was terrible while Morkel is not at his best. Will be interesting to hear what Amla has to say.
Zimbabwe will be very happy with the result and virtually puts them into the final. Unofficial or not they taught their neighbours a good cricketing lesson today.
Amla: "Both the batting and bowling has a lot of work to do, we gave away at least 20 too many runs. Batting first here is the better call but we did not play well today."
Taylor: "We got both departments right today and very proud. The toss did play a part, but we took full advantage of it with the 100 opening partnership. We changed our bowlers well today and we are all extremely happy. Tomorrow is another game and we have to stay focused."
MoM: Chris Mpofu wins the Man-of-the-Match award.
Thanks to all for your attendance and we will be back tomorrow for game number four.
Goodnight all
Lobsy this time tries the scoop, makes room to the off but does not get close to contact
Somewhere close I can hear the fat lady singing
low full toss is stroked down the ground to long on
yorker does him, been trying to get it right all over, this one perfect, de Lange has no answer to that
got that wrong but gets away with it, high full toss, worked across the line towards midwicket, they take two, TV replay called, safe...but only just
good line and length, you get under that kind of ball, drives down the ground to long on
low full toss, just about a yorker, stroked to the on side
driven down the ground towards long off
slower ball outside off, more of an off cutter, left alone
on the back foot, punches one just outside off to the deep cover sweeper
another one bites the dust, Ingram goes down the ground, another slower ball, gets too much under it, goes high, and after dropping Ingram on zero, Sibanda makes no mistake this time
gets that one wrong a huge wide outside off
looks to the leg side, clips that away to deep midwicket
round the wicket, angled into the left hander, good bounce as Ingram plays and misses
bowling change does it again, just on length, Peterson swings hard at the slower ball, ends up hitting it straight up into the air, Mpofu gets under it, waits, and takes a good easy catch
just misses his spot, ends up bowling a low full toss that is put away over his head
great bowling from the youngster, another good yorker, must have shaved the off stump
slower ball, almost yorker outside off, looks to get bat to it, plays over the top of it
full on the off, angles that with open face straight at the backward point in the ring
drives firmly but can not beat the cover
wide outside off, has a full drive at that, too wide to get the bat to it... not called, only just made it inside the line
