There's no stopping Jacques Kallis in his new avatar as a Twenty20 player. After his 89 against Kings XI Punjab, he followed it up with an all-round performance against Rajasthan tonight, taking 2 for 20 and scoring an unbeaten 44. Rajasthan were struggling early in their innings. When Kallis was introduced, he struck first ball, when he had Naman Ojha splicing to cover-point. Ojha tried to break free after surviving a testing spell from Steyn but Kallis got the better of him.
Abhishek Jhunjhunwala had made just one when he clearly feathered one behind off Kallis. The Royal Challengers Bangalore were stunned when umpire Hariharan shook his head, and Kallis' mood worsened when Jhunjhunwala then scythed one over slip for four. The next delivery, however, was chopped back on. Kallis had the last laugh. Kallis continued playing on the minds of the Rajasthan batsmen, firing the ball short. Even the experienced Damien Martyn looked out of sorts against him.
With bat in hand, chasing 93, Kallis' intention was to finish off the game as soon as possible. Three sweet clips through the on side raised Morne Morkel's hackles, and when he summoned up a brute of a bouncer, fortune was on Kallis' side, with an odd-looking stroke flying off the edge and over the slips for four more. With 32 on the board after two overs, the game was as good as over. It was a chanceless innings from Kallis who remained unbeaten.
