There was a time when a surprising decision might have been given the benefit of the doubt but with the furore over the selection of Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes at the Oval, the evidence of a shift became clear, writes Steve James in the Telegraph. Instead of being criticised despite a 3-0 win in the Ashes, James says England team director Andy Flower should be cherished a little more.
The importance of the peripherals is being exaggerated. Flower has created a winning culture, and it is not anywhere near as blinkered and unfeeling as some suggest. How about we enjoy what is still a golden era for English cricket?
