More reaction to Atherton ball-tampering controversy.
England and Yorkshire legend Geoff Boycott has reopened the
ball-tampering row by revealing that many of his team-mates
cheated. "I have to put my hand on my heart and admit I have
seen players in teams I've played in tampering with the ball.
"It was wrong. They all knew it was wrong because it was done
secretly." he says in C4's "Devil's Advocate" - previewed in the
Daily Mirror.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has entered the balltampering row by accusing England skipper Mike Atherton of unfair
tactics against South Africa. "He was in breach of cricket's law
under fair and unfair play. He was guilty of unfair play," said
Gavaskar in the Bombay Midday newspaper. Gavaskar has also
alleged that Atherton knew what he was doing was wrong when he
rubbed the ball with dirt.
