Bangladesh A kept their series hopes alive after edging out Zimbabwe A in the thrilling fourth one-dayer at the Queens Park Sports Club in Bulawayo. Bangladesh levelled the five-match series for the second time with their exciting victory by just two runs. The series now stands at 2-2 with one match to play. The visitors were wobbling at 61 for 4 after being sent in, but a strong display from the lower order boosted them to 271 for 8. The total proved just out of reach of Zimbabwe, who missed out on their chance to claim the series by falling a mere three runs short of victory.

Shamsur Rahman led the innings for Bangladesh, his solid 63 from No 4 steadied the ship and set the platform for the lower order's assault. They duly delivered. Mahmudullah posted 34, the captain Mushfiqur Rahim added 58, while the wicketkeeper Sanwar Hossain remained unbeaten on 38 as Bangladesh set a challenging 272. Zimbabwe's opening bowler Waddington Mwayenga was the leading wicket-taker for his side, but his three wickets came at a price: his ten overs went for 75 runs.

Zimbabwe's reply got off to a woeful start: they found themselves on 12 for 2 after Terrence Duffin fell for 1 and Vusi Sibanda for 4. But they recovered to make a decent fight but, just as they were closing in on victory, two late run-outs halted their charge and Bangladesh clung on to make a successful, if nervy, defence of their total. If the climactic match is anywhere near as close as this game then it promises to be a thriller.
