Bowlers to be put through their paces

National Assistant Coach Corrie van Zyl and UCB Director of Coaching Anton Ferreira will host a bowling clinic for 21 of the top bowlers (pace and spin) from around the country to hone their skills for the coming season.

The clinic will be held at RAU in Johannesburg from Monday 20 August to Wednesday 22 August. All aspects of bowling will be covered over the three days of lectures, nets and video analysis. On Tuesday, batsmen Herschelle Gibbs and Gary Kirsten have been invited to face the bowlers in the nets.

Said Ferreira today: "This is one of the steps we are taking to ensure that our national bowlers are kept in perfect nick, as well as to allow us to work with the bowlers who we believe are on the fringes of national selection or - having seen their work at the Academy this year - are showing some tremendous promise."

The bowlers will be coached or lectured by Corrie van Zyl, Eric Simons, Shaun Pollock, Allan Donald, Alan Kourie, Mark O'Donnell, Omar Henry and Adrian Birrell.
