Crowe bids adieu to England
Martin Crowe has announced that when he resumes on 94 not out on
the fifth day of the 3rd Test vs England, it will be the last
time he appears at the crease in England.
Crowe has his sights set on the target of twenty Test centuries,
and provided he achieves the six further runs required, the two
in this series will bring his tally to 17. He has said previously
he envisages only playing for 2-3 more seasons and the forthcoming tour in South Africa could be the last time he tours.
Crowe has played Test cricket since 1981/82 appearing in 70
Tests, a number less than it should be due to New Zealand's lower
rate of Tests, and the fact that he has missed nine tests over
the last two seasons due to injury. He has scored 5209 runs at an
average of 48.23 and requires 126 more runs to pass John Wright's
record run-tally for New Zealand.
