A quite remarkable allround performance from Canada's captain John Davison led them to a 104-run victory over USA in their Intercontinental Cup match at Brian Piccolo Park in Fort Lauderdale.

Davison followed his first-innings 8 for 61 with 9 for 76, as USA were bowled out for 126 on a wearing pitch chasing 230 to win. His match figures of 17 for 137 were the best first-class figures since Jim Laker's 19-wicket haul against Australia at Old Trafford in 1956, and he is only the second man since the Second World War to take 17 wickets in a match.

Mark Johnson and Steve Massiah had appeared to be guiding USA towards victory with a solid third-wicket stand. Johnson added 5 to his overnight total before becoming the first of Davidson's victims for 42. Massiah made 37 but the rest of the side capitulated without much of a fight. It took Davidson and Canada just 22.2 overs to complete an emphatic victory.

The Man of the Match award was a formality - Davison also made the highest score of the match (84) in Canada's first innings.

USA travel to Bermuda in July for their next Intercontinental Cup match, while Canada host Bermuda in the final group match in August.
