Derbyshire are to consider making an official complaint to the
Test and County Cricket Board over public criticism of fast
bowler Devon Malcolm from England manager Ray Illingworth, coach
Peter Lever and captain Michael Atherton during the Test series
in South Africa.
Derbyshire secretary Reg Taylor said: "It has certainly been an
unhappy tour for Devon and we are considering whether to take the
issue further.
"We will be talking to Devon in the near future and in the interests of balance we will also attempt to speak to Ray Illingworth. There is a limit to what we can do but if what we hear
convinces us that Malcolm was in any way unfairly treated then it
is likely that some form of official protest will be lodged."
