In response to today's decision by the Executive Board of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the matches in Zimbabwe and Kenya to go ahead, Dr Ali Bacher, Executive Director of the ICC Cricket World Cup South Africa 2003, said:
"It has always been our belief that the six matches scheduled for Zimbabwe and the two in Kenya should go ahead as planned.
"We are pleased that we can now concentrate on adding the final touches to the arrangements in both countries as we have done in South Africa, and we are looking forward to cricket lovers attending the matches in those countries in their thousands.
"The Organising Committee of the CWC has been working at full steam and has never relaxed its efforts to deliver what should be an outstanding global sporting event that South Africa, Africa and the ICC can be proud of."
