Dwayne Bravo has made a comeback from injury to lead the West Indies team in the home ODIs against Bangladesh in August. Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Kemar Roach are the additions to the squad that played West Indies' previous ODI assignment - against England at home in March. Kieran Powell, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Smith are the players missing from that group.
Bravo had been ruled out of the 2014 IPL season after hurting his shoulder fielding for Chennai Super Kings during their opening game against Kings XI Punjab, and he missed West Indies' home series against New Zealand. He made a comeback to competitive cricket during the ongoing CPL as captain of the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel franchise.
Gayle had missed the one-day series against England after suffering lower back pain following in the preceding first Twenty20 against Ireland, while Pollard had a knee injury and Roach was recuperating from a shoulder injury.
Powell and Samuels remain out of favour after poor performances in the home Tests against New Zealand. Smith didn't make the cut after ordinary performances in the ODIs against England, the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh and the home T20s against New Zealand. He was overlooked for selection despite hitting two centuries in his first eight CPL innings, though his other six scores were poor.
