Melbourne, Sunday - With Muralideran`s career in a tailspin another Sri Lankan Test player Kumar Dharmasena, is among five test bowlers under scrutiny for suspect actions, according to the Sunday Herald Sun of Jan 7 article.
The controversial calling of ``Murali`` for throwing this summer has called for crackdown on suspect actions worldwide.
Over the past 3 years the ICC has received reports from match referees naming at least 5 bowlers with suspect actions, ``offie`` Dharmasena, a Kiwi medium pacer, an Indian spinner, an English spinner and another bowler whose identity remains a mystery.
With `Murali` being called, the umpires are more likely to make similar calls. The Lankan tour management on Saturday, via telephone with BCCSL (Colombo) discussed Murali`s future.
Manager Mendis said, no final decision has been arrived at whether Murali would be sent home.
Three Aussie umpires have called `Murali` on this tour. There is an air of doubt of his playing in the future games.
The ICC will take up this matter at its next meeting fixed for Feb. 10, McQuillan will umpire Sri Lanka`s match, world series tomorrow against Australia, in MCG and Hair against the Aussies in Perth on Friday, Jan 12. The Third Test in Adelaide, starting on Jan. 25, by Steve Randall.
Is Muralideran bending the rules, when he bowls leg-spin, is the question asked by fans and knowledgeable personalities including channel 9 commentator Tony Greig. In this instance Emerson was bowled round the legs.
