Five Test bowlers under scrutiny

Melbourne, Sunday - With Muralideran`s career in a tailspin
another Sri Lankan Test player Kumar Dharmasena, is among five
test bowlers under scrutiny for suspect actions, according to the
Sunday Herald Sun of Jan 7 article.
The controversial calling of ``Murali`` for throwing this summer
has called for crackdown on suspect actions worldwide.
Over the past 3 years the ICC has received reports from match referees naming at least 5 bowlers with suspect actions, ``offie``
Dharmasena, a Kiwi medium pacer, an Indian spinner, an English
spinner and another bowler whose identity remains a mystery.
With `Murali` being called, the umpires are more likely to make
similar calls. The Lankan tour management on Saturday, via telephone with BCCSL (Colombo) discussed Murali`s future.
Manager Mendis said, no final decision has been arrived at whether Murali would be sent home.
Three Aussie umpires have called `Murali` on this tour. There is
an air of doubt of his playing in the future games.
The ICC will take up this matter at its next meeting fixed for
Feb. 10, McQuillan will umpire Sri Lanka`s match, world series
tomorrow against Australia, in MCG and Hair against the Aussies
in Perth on Friday, Jan 12. The Third Test in Adelaide, starting
on Jan. 25, by Steve Randall.
Is Muralideran bending the rules, when he bowls leg-spin, is the
question asked by fans and knowledgeable personalities including
channel 9 commentator Tony Greig. In this instance Emerson was
bowled round the legs.
