Jimmy Maher, the Australia batsman and Tino Best, the West Indies fast bowler, are top of Glamorgan's wish list for the new season.
Maher, 33 next month, represented the county in 2001, passing 1000 runs, and briefly in 2003 before joining Durham. Best, though, has yet to play for a county but is excited by the prospect of playing in England.
"If the opportunity comes about I will grab it with all ten of my fingers and all ten of my toes," Best told Sunsport. "You are always excited by that possible opportunity, but no one has contacted my agent yet. A friend of mine had a chat with Glamorgan. They are very interested.
"If I don't make the West Indies team to England, I would be playing first-class cricket in England, which is very good for a young man - to play in that type of environment and set-up."
Best played the last of his 12 Tests against Sri Lanka in 2005, and represented West Indies on their last tour of England in 2004. England host West Indies for four Tests and three one-dayers with the first Test at Lord's on May 17.
