====> Team preparation for NZ centenary cup.
"Accent of fielding in the Training Camp"
The training camp was "worthwhile" according to the cricket
manager A.L.Wadekar and "Quite good" as per Azharuddin.
Regarding the fielding, Wadekar said, "there is always scope for
improvement. It is not upto the standards of Australians and
South Africans. This is due to the poor state of grounds in India
which prevents cricketers from diving and sliding". Azhar said,
"Most of our cricketers have been playing domestic cricket and
this camp was basically meant for fielding improvement. I have
been saying this for long and still maintain that it is only
fielding that bothers me. Bowling and batting are pretty consistent, but we have to save runs in fielding". He also hoped that
India could be triumphant. "We had trouble last time to adapt to
the surroundings. Hopefully we have learnt from that experience
this time". He wished that some players had got more exposure by
playing in the India A team against the visiting Eng A team.

former cricketers failed to get thro the exam required
