Kent have signed the South African batsman Daryll Cullinan as their overseas player for the coming season.
Cullinan, 34 next week, has played 65 Tests and 138 one-day internationals for
his country. He replaces the Indian batting star Rahul Dravid, who is unable to return to Kent this year because of international commitments.
Cullinan will be in England in time to take part in Kent's first home County
Championship match against Warwickshire on April 25.
Cullinan said: "I am excited about playing county cricket in England. It came out of the blue, but I am delighted with the professionalism Kent have shown
throughout, and their willingness and keenness."
He added: "I've played at Canterbury on two tours with South Africa. It's a very good batting wicket. It's a unique ground with a strong traditional feel."
