BRIAN LARA, refreshed after his break from cricket, looks set to
make his return for Trinidad and Tobago in a Red Stripe Cup trial
match tomorrow.
Lara, 26, withdrew from West Indies` current tour of Australia as
a protest for being fined following his conduct on last summer`s
tour of England.
He has accepted the captaincy of Trinidad for the Red Stripe competition, which begins next month.
Theo Cuffy, the Trinidad and Tobago cricket manager, said: "Brian
is set to play on Friday and we are all looking forward to seeing
him back making runs.
"He has had his rest and he wants to get back to playing cricket.
He is looking relaxed and at ease - this holiday has done him a
world of good."
Cuffy also intimated that Lara would be back playing for the West
Indies in the World Cup in India and Pakistan.
"I am sure he would like to captain us to a Red Stripe victory,
but he will most likely be available for only the first two games
because of the World Cup."
