The New Zealand pace bowler Chris Martin is moving from Canterbury to Auckland during the off-season and will be available to play for the Auckland Aces next season.
Martin's partner is transferring jobs, meaning that he will leave the Canterbury Wizards where he has played all his state cricket since making his debut in 1997-98. During that time he has taken 136 first-class wickets at 28.36 apiece and 82 one-day wickets at 24.98.
The Canterbury CEO, Richard Reid, told nzcricket.co.nz: "He has been an outstanding contributor for Canterbury, but I understand his reasons for shifting and we wish him well."
Martin, 30, is the fastest New Zealand bowler to take 50 Test wickets - taking 13 Test - and has now claimed 76 victims in 23 matches at 35.59 apiece. He made a dramatic return to Test cricket, against South Africa in 2004, after almost two years out of the Test arena and claimed matched figures of 11 for 180 as New Zealand won by nine wickets. In two Tests during the series he finished with 18 wickets 16.66.
He has often had to carry an injury-hit New Zealand attack and his best bowling performance of 6 for 54 was achieved in the recent series against Sri Lanka.
