Former Australian pace bowling star Dennis Lillee spoke high of
Sri Lanka's left-armer Chaminda Vaas and said the youngster is
one of the best fast bowlers produced by Sri Lanka. Lillee, who
has visited Sri Lanka as part of his regular overseas visits to
help young fast bowlers, looked like the sage that he is as he
was surround by five Sri Lankan bowlers at net practice in Adelaide Oval. They were silent as he spoke. He has particular
respect for Vaas. Lillee said when he first saw Vaas he thought
he might have been too small and slow to make the grade but hard
work and rapid improvement have transformed him into a respected
international player.
Lillee says McDermott will continue till next century
Fast bowling legend, Dennis Lillee believes Craig McDermott's
Test career could rumble into the next century and the latter
will still be bowling in five years time. Lillee said his Australian bowling record of 355 wickets will disappear in the process. McDermott has 281 Test wickets in 68 matches to be 13th on
the list of all-time Test wicket-takers and second to the incomparable Lillee among the Australians. McDermott had two lean
Tests against Pakistan but rebounded with an eight-wicket haul in
the Third Test in Sydney. "I've got no doubt Craig will get my
record. He's a fit and strong 30-year-old," Lillee said.
