New Zealand squad for opening one-dayer vs West Indies
A thirteen man squad has been named for the opening one-day
international against the West Indies, to be held in Auckland
this Sunday. Notably absent from the team are Martin Crowe
(through injury) and Chris Pringle, who has been axed from the
squad following "off-field indiscipline" during the recent South
African tour. This allows the inclusion of Andrew Jones, who has
returned from retirement, and newcomer Nathan Astle. Gavin Larsen
and Dion Nash also return to the squad (replacing Chris Harris
and Richard de Groen), and Mark Douglas also returns to the team,
replacing Darrin Murray.
The full squad is: Ken Rutherford (c); Danny Morrison (vc); Bryan
Young; Mark Douglas; Andrew Jones; Stephen Fleming; Adam Parore;
Shane Thomson; Nathan Astle; Dion Nash; Gavin Larsen; Simon
Doull; Matthew Hart.
