Hamilton NZ August 7th 2001 - Since voicing concerns at the allocation of
Test Matches and One Day Internationals for the forthcoming tour by the
English Cricket Team, the Northern Districts Cricket Association has been
overwhelmed at the level of support it has received from throughout New
Zealand.
"We have had calls of support from Cricket Administrators, former
international players, NZC sponsors, NZC Consultants and advisors, and huge
numbers of the public since we went public with our concerns over the board
of New Zealand Cricket's apparent lack of credence to cricket issues on
making its decision last week" remarked Northern Districts CEO John
Turkington.
The Northern Districts Cricket Association is committed to further
developing its facility at WestpacTrust Park to maintain its position as the
venue most favoured by those looking to promote both Test Cricket and One
Day Internationals.
