Pakistan tour in the balance?
Demand guarantee money of 100,000 US$ - by Elmo Rodrigopulle
The Pakistan cricket team's tour of Sri Lanka for three Tests and
three one-day internationals during July/August is in the balance
as the Pakistanis are demanding guarantee money of US$ one hundred thousand.
The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL), according
to sources, had written to the Pakistan Cricket Board (BCCP) requesting them to conisder lowering the requested guarantee money.
But at the time of writing, no reply from the BCCP has been received.
However, Pakistanis have confirmed their participation in the
quadrangular tourney to be played here in September between Sri
Lanka, India and Australia.
In the meantime, Sri Lanka have not yet named their captain for
the Pakistan and quadrangular tourney. But if the appointing of
Arjuna Ranatunga to lead the Board XI game against Kegalle in an
exhibition game on June 16 is an indication, then he will be
slotted into his familiar role as skipper.
