South African pace bowler Shaun Pollock will replace West Indian batting sensation Brian Lara in the Warwickshire side for
the 1996 English county championship.
Lara will not play county cricket next summer season and asked
Warwickshire to release him from a three-year contract. He
said that he is not too keen on playing in England unless a really good offer came in from an English county. Meanwhile, English county sources said that there have been three offers to
Sri Lankans including Aravinda de Silva who have turned down
the offers due to tight commitments with their national team. De
Silva played for Kent last summer.
