Primary/Under-14 girls' cricket tournament finals tomorrow

Canterbury Country and Christchurch Black square off tomorrow in the final of the Southern Zone Primary/Under-14 Girls' Tournament being played at the Polo grounds, South Hagley Park. In the match for third and fourth, Christchurch Red play Otago Gold while Otago Blue play South Canterbury for fifth and sixth positions.

Canterbury Country were the only unbeaten team at the end of the first three days of competition.

The feature of the third round matches was the closeness of matches between the two Christchurch sides and between the two Otago teams. The other match was a more one-sided affair with Canterbury Country dominating the South Canterbury team.

Otago Gold 119 (E Hughes 4-14, A McHutchon 3-37) lost to Otago Blue 120/3 (K Curran 62).

Canterbury Country 190/7 (N Burns 44; E Nevin 3-14) beat South Canterbury 59 (K McDonald 5-6, V Abbott 3-13).

Christchurch Black 115/9 (E Ballinger 36) lost to Christchurch Red 118/5 (L Rae 54 not out, K Harris 24 not out).
