Bangladesh's hopes of ending their tour of England on a high were dented at Cardiff, as rain wiped out the entire day's play. After enjoying the upper hand on the opening day of the third Under-19 Test, the players were forced to take refuge in the dressing-room, and any prospect of play was abandoned after lunch.

On the opening day of the match, Samit Patel had rescued England's fortunes with a valuable 65, after they had slumped to 125 for 8. By the close, Bangladesh had reached 58 for 2 in reply.
